Two tablets of agomelatine of 25 mg may be used instead of one of 50 mg. The form of Agomelatine is a "standard" release film-coated tablet. This means that the therapeutic efficacy and safety profile is equal regardless of whether we take 2 tablets in a lower dose or one in a higher dose. This is due to the fact that the tablet dissolves at exactly the same time, absorbs and acts regardless of the dose. The principle of such use does not apply to modified-release drugs.
