Both Xifaxan and Azitrolek 500 are antibiotics. They differ in the place of action and the method of destruction of microorganisms. Xifaxan is used to treat local gastrointestinal infections. It is absorbed minimally. Azitrolek, in turn, for use in general infections, e.g. pneumonia, bronchitis or tonsillitis. It is worth answering the questions: For what purpose do we want to combine both drugs? Is this what the doctor recommended? Did one specialist prescribe xifaxan and the other azitrolek 500? Often, in order to expand the spectrum (i.e. act simultaneously on different pathogens), doctors recommend using two substances, however, these are so strong antibiotics that it is necessary to inform the attending physician about the medications taken.
