Can there be an increase in pain after intraarticular administration of hyaluronic acid?

Before administration, there was no pain or swelling, and after the knee immediately swelled and there was a huge pain. After a few weeks, the knee still hurts in situations in which it did not hurt before...

I was given hyaluronic acid (Biolevox Ha One shot 2.5%) about 5 days ago and my knees swollen. The surgeon-orthopedist himself said that it was the first time he encountered such a thing after this preparation (biolevox). In addition, he still feels that the acid has not yet been completely absorbed. This is my third injection with this preparation and I have not had these problems before. Perhaps the defective series came out.

There are very rare cases of patients in whom we do not achieve clinical improvement, or even its deterioration after intraarticular administration of hyaluronic acid. Administration of hyaluronic acid in the form of an intraarticular injection may be associated with side effects such as pain at the application site, muscle pain, swelling, redness. Hyaluronic acid is characterized by high "compatibility" with the human body, hence the listed ailments are usually not very severe and disappear within a few days. It is believed that after topical administration of hyaluronic acid, it may take several weeks for the pain caused by degenerative disease to subside. In the described case, the time needed to develop the effect has already passed, and the pain has even intensified, so I recommend contacting the attending physician for more thorough examinations.
