Good morning, I received from the doctor for sudden redness of the face, probably on an allergic background, Clatra for two weeks - the dose, however, is 2 x 20 mg. According to the leaflet, it is advisable to take only one tablet per day. I wanted to ask if taking a double dose is associated with an increased risk of side effects? If so, which ones? Thank you.

In exacerbations of allergic diseases, it is permissible to increase the doses of antihistamines, to which the clatra used by Mrs. Clatra contains bilastin, a substance that prevents histamine from working in the body. It is a new generation drug that, unlike older antihistamines, causes fewer side effects. Although theoretically increasing the dose may result in an increase in side effects (m.in drowsiness, dryness of mucous membranes), the current scientific literature has not shown such an effect. I enclose the leaflet to the drug Clatra: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/18223/clatra-20-mg-tabletki/ulotka/ and an article that may be of interest to you: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czy-bac-sie-dzialan-niepozadanych-lekow
