Tiorfan, available on prescription, reduces excessive secretion of water and electrolytes by the intestines, which leads to a thickening of feces. The dosage for adults is initially one capsule, regardless of the time of day. Then one capsule three times a day preferably before the main meals. Treatment should be continued until two normal stools are given. Treatment should not last more than 7 days. A drug with the same active substance for children is available under the name Hidrasec.
