Hello, the daughter of 6 years after the asthma was found got the drug Comboterol, but I am concerned because on the leaflet she writes that the drug is not intended for children under 12 years. Could there have been a medical error or could this drug simply be used by her?

Comboterol is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age because efficacy and safety studies in this age group have not been conducted. However, the doctor may recommend taking the drug outside the manufacturer's registration indications, i.e. in younger children, if his knowledge and previous experience show that such therapy is safe and helpful. This is the so-called off-label use of the drug, which we wrote about here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami Such a procedure is increasingly common in the treatment, among others, of the youngest patients.
