Should I take Thiogamna 600mg if I don't have diabetic polyneuropathy?

The doctor prescribed me the drug Thiogamna 600mg, it is for people with diabetic polyneuropathy. I don't have diabetes or have the condition. I have an injury to the ulnar nerve as a result of hitting myself. Is it normal for this medication to be prescribed to me?

According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, there are sensory disorders, also on the basis of diabetic polyneuropathy. Thiogamma has been shown to have a beneficial effect on symptoms such as burning, numbness and pain. Thioctic acid, which is the active substance of the drug, is also a powerful antioxidant and can be an antidote in the case of heavy metal poisoning, it also has anti-inflammatory effects. I enclose the description of the preparation: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/78522/thiogamma-tabletki-powlekane/ulotka/182853 It is difficult in this particular case to assess whether it is the correct therapeutic procedure without knowing your medical records. If you are concerned about the effect of the drug or the accuracy of its selection, it is best to talk to your doctor about it.
