Slinda posiada wysoką skuteczność antykoncepcyjną. Działanie antykoncepcyjne leku Slinda polega na hamowaniu owulacji, zmianach w śluzie szyjkowym i wpływie na endometrium, które staje się cieńsze. Tabletki chronią przed ciążą przez cały czas przyjmowania ich do organizmu, również w trakcie stosowania tabletek placebo. W związku z tym nie jest wymagane stosowanie dodatkowej metody antykoncepcji.
