Hello, son 12 years old - zoonotic mycosis on his face. Prescribed lamisil 125mg. Unfortunately not available. The dermatologist changed to myconafine 250 mg. The leaflet states that it should not be given to children. The dermatologist refers to the child's weight - that over 40 kg of body weight can be given 1 tablet per day. What to do? Can myconafine be split tablets?

Your doctor may recommend the use of the drug in your child based on your own clinical experience, in cases where a specific treatment procedure is required. The restriction of the use of terbinafine for the treatment of children is due to the lack of studies on the use of the substance in this age group. This information is also listed in the package leaflet:
"There is no information on the use of this medicine in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Do not give Myconafine to children unless your doctor tells you to."
I encourage you to consult your doctor about the possible possibility of dividing the tablet. Changing the dose of the drug may require modification of the entire treatment process. Theoretically, a Myconafine tablet has a dividing groove on both sides, but the characteristics of the product do not indicate that it is possible to obtain two equal doses after dividing the tablet.
