Preparations used in the treatment of obesity are available on the Polish market containing substances such as orlistat (e.g. Xenical), a combination of naltrexone and bupropion (e.g. Mysimba), liraglutite (e.g. Saxenda), semglutite (e.g. Ozempic) and tirzepatide (e.g. Mounjaro).

These types of preparations are recommended for people with obesity (BMI over 30) and overweight (BMI over 27), most often with concomitant diseases, such as diabetes or elevated cholesterol.

In order for obesity medications to be effective, they should be used together with a balanced diet and physical activity properly selected for the current state of health.

The appropriate medication should be selected by a specialist, m.in. on the basis of concomitant diseases, medications used, current health condition and BMI of the patient.
