Is the short-term intake of the drug Osteogenon carries the risk of developing kidney stones?

My grandmother (87 years old) after a fracture of the femur was prescribed to strengthen osteogenon. Grandma has one kidney. Can I take osteogenon as recommended 2x1? Is there a risk of kidney stones?
Best regards.

It all depends on the condition of your grandmother's kidneys. If your kidney is functioning properly and does not develop urolithiasis, taking the medicine for a short period of time should not pose a risk.

The manufacturer warns: In case of kidney failure, the concentration of calcium in the blood serum and in the urine should be checked regularly. High doses of Osteogenon and/or long-term use should be avoided.

I think it's a good idea to consult your doubts with your doctor. If the medicine is to be taken for a short period of time, only until the femur has healed, there should be no risk of increased serum calcium levels.

If you have concerns, this question is best answered by a nephrologist.

Here you can check the availability of the medicine and book it at the pharmacy:
