Information in the summary of product characteristics:

"There are no adequate data on the use of azithromycin in pregnant women. In animal reproductive studies, azithromycin has been shown to cross the placenta, but no teratogenic effects have been observed. The safety of azithromycin during pregnancy has not been established, therefore azithromycin should only be used during this time if the benefit outweighs the risk."

The drug can only be used on medical recommendation (the doctor should be informed about pregnancy).
