Good morning. A four-year-old weighing 16.5 kg has been diagnosed with an overgrown third tonsil. He gets ephedrine-based powders. The composition prescribed by the doctor looks like in the photo below. This is to be taken twice a day. Isn't that too much?

Maximum doses for children aged 2-12 years are calculated using Clark's formula, in which the product of the maximum adult dose and the child's body weight is divided by 70. For ephedrine, the maximum oral single dose for an adult is 50mg and the daily dose is 150mg. Using the Clraka formula, for a child weighing 16.5 kg, the maximum single dose is 11.78 mg and the daily dose is 35.36 mg. The 5mg dose prescribed on the prescription does not exceed the maximum doses.
