In the initial period of use of contraceptive pills, irregular spotting and mid-cycle bleeding and other side effects are more likely. This period, usually lasting up to 3 months, is often called the adaptation period, during which the body adapts to hormonal changes occurring under the influence of the contraceptive method used. The symptoms you write about may therefore be related to the change of contraceptive. If you have used the contraceptive pill correctly, and during the period when you have not taken the pills, you have not had unprotected intercourse, the probability of pregnancy is relatively small. However, if you have doubts, it is worth taking a pregnancy test to be sure.
