Will regular ovulation tests monitor the effectiveness of Mirena?

Hi, I have put on a mirena insert in June, 3 years have passed since its establishment or after performing regularly monthly ovulation tests will be able to determine on this basis when the hormone in this IUD will end? And can ovulation tests during its use come out positive? Is this a good way to determine the moment when the IUD will stop working hormonally and will only be an IUD?

Regular ovulation tests are not an appropriate method to monitor the effectiveness of Mirena. This insert has several mechanisms of action. During its use, ovulation may occur (the test will give a positive result) - however, other mechanisms mean that there is no implantation of the embryo in the uterus and protection is still preserved. According to the manufacturer: "The Mirena system has a local progestogen effect in the uterine cavity. With a high concentration of levonorgestrel in the endometrium, the number of estrogen and progesterone receptors decreases - therefore, the endometrium becomes insensitive to circulating estradiol and inhibition of its growth is observed. When using the Mirena system, morphological changes of the endometrium and weak local reactions to a foreign body are observed. The thickening of cervical mucus prevents sperm from entering through the cervical canal. The local environment in the uterus and fallopian tubes inhibits sperm motility and function, preventing fertilization. In some women, ovulation is inhibited." As the manufacturer declares: "The Mirena system is inserted into the uterine cavity. It retains efficacy for 8 years in the indication of pregnancy prevention and 5 years in the indication idiopathic excessive menstrual bleeding."
