Hello, I would like to ask if single-component tablets work on endometriosis similarly to two-component tablets? I have endometriosis and I'm afraid of thrombosis. I wonder if single-component tablets would also have an inhibitory effect on endometriosis. Best regards

Progestogens themselves are used and registered in endometriosis - in this indication dienogest without the addition of estrogen is used, examples of such preparations can be found here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/substancje/dienogest However, these products do not have a contraceptive effect and although they reduce the chance of getting pregnant, during their use it is required to use additional methods, e.g. condoms. To reduce symptoms and excessive bleeding, the gynecologist may also offer the patient a contraceptive device with levonorgestrel (also does not contain estrogen). A single-component progestin contraceptive pill (POP) could also be used, but to the best of my knowledge, this is not the first choice proposition for most women – please talk to your gynecologist about it. With single-component tablets, the bleeding profile is difficult to predict - bleeding may be irregular, although it may also not occur at all.
