The combination use of acetylsalicylic acid (e.g., etopirna) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (e.g., Paroxinor) can potentially lead to the summation of the coagulation inhibitory effect of blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding side effects. In order to prevent upper gastrointestinal bleeding during the use of the above combination, the use of gastrointestinal protective agents (e.g. PPIs) should be considered, especially in high-risk patients.
