I've got Mirena on. I read into the mechanism of its operation and everything seemed understandable to me. Today I read on one of the websites of women's clinics that Mirena causes chronic inflammation of the uterus and there is no information in the leaflet. What is it like?

The Mirena IUD does not work by causing inflammation, but by supplying a hormone that, m.in, thickens the cervical mucus, which prevents sperm from reaching the egg or fertilizing it.
Most likely, you have read about non-hormonal IUDs - copper ones. Their action actually consists in the release of copper ions, which cause a local inflammatory reaction – they cause swelling and congestion of the endometrium, which reduces the possibility of implantation of the fertilized egg.
