Is it normal for me to feel a wire instead of strings when checking the Mirena IUD?

Hello, is it normal that during the control of the IUD Mirena I feel a wire instead of strings? Due to infrequent menstruation, I do not remember whether during the last one I felt a string or something like that. I moved to Germany and I don't have a trusted doctor here with a free appointment anytime soon

The phenomena you describe are not normal. If, during your self-examination of the Mirena insert, you feel something that resembles a wire instead of soft cords, this may cause some concern. This may mean that the insert has been partially pushed out or slightly shifted. There is also a possibility that the strings have been damaged. If you suspect that the IUD has shifted or expelled, it is recommended to consult a doctor. You can also use the teleadvice offered, m.in. by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja/z-ginekologiem I enclose a link to check the availability of the Mirena insert and make a reservation at the selected pharmacy: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/49634/mirena-przyrzad/apteki
