Is it possible that the tampon fell out and I didn't notice it?

Good morning I have a rather unusual case. Namely, on Wednesday I was at a party where at 8 p.m. I applied a tampon. I was convinced that I had done it, but the next morning there was neither a string nor could I feel a tampon... On the same day in the afternoon I went quickly to the gynecologist who did not find that this tampon was stuck for me. Hence the question, is it possible that somehow it fell out to me and I did not notice? I am stressed so far despite visiting a gynecologist, I have terrible fears about TSS.
