Escitalopram - the active substance in Servenon - works after at least 2 weeks, often longer. At the beginning of therapy, some side effects may intensify - it can be said that this is the "normal" stage of therapy in the course of treatment with agents from the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In particular, this applies to thoughts of self-harm or suicide, but the patient may also feel powerless, tired, weak, worsening depression or anxiety, sweating, muscle tension, throbbing, a feeling of tremor or heat in different parts of the body, restlessness, vomiting or anorexia. Also, other side effects may be more pronounced at the beginning of therapy, but they usually pass after 2-3 weeks. This is due to the fact that drugs weaken the perception of anxiety quite quickly, but do not immediately have an antidepressant effect.
