Such a combination is possible only after medical consultation. In about 75% of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease, the phenomenon of increased secretion of hydrochloric acid at night has been described. At night, there is a decrease in the pH in the stomach below 4, despite the use of a high dose of PPIs twice a day. This unfavorable phenomenon can be reduced by additionally administering in the evening a drug that blocks H2 receptors, e.g. famotidine. The drug from the group of proton pump inhibitors PPIs (here - omeprazole) should be administered during the day, preferably before breakfast; at night, during reduced activity of the proton pump (lack of a food stimulus), their antisecretive effect will be less. The above combination should not be used alone for more than a month, even if the patient feels an improvement.
