Gastroscopy is a diagnostic examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract. It can be used to examine the condition of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. Menstrual bleeding, which affects the genital tract, is not a contraindication to gastroscopic examination. During menstruation, however, endoscopic examinations of the lower gastrointestinal tract such as rectoscopy, sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy should be avoided, when the apparatus is inserted through the anus - in this case, it is worth communicating with the doctor in advance as to the date and urgency of the examination.
