Do statins and antihypertensive drugs negatively affect male fertility?

Does the use of Rosutrox and Prestilol in a man have a significant effect on semen? Can these drugs damage sperm and increase the risk of genetic defects in the fetus?

W badaniach nie dowiedziono negatywnego wpływu statyn (np. Rosutrox) na jakość nasienia. Leki z grupy beta blokerów i inhibitorów ACE zawarte w produkcie leczniczym Prestilol mogą natomiast wpływać na płodność u mężczyzn. Badania wykazały, że leki te zmniejszają szanse na posiadanie dziecko o ok. 10%. Ich stosowanie nie zwiększa jednak ryzyka wad genetycznych u płodu.

Reasumując, w ogromnej większości przypadków korzyści ze stosowania wspomnianych leków znacznie przewyższają ewentualne ryzyko, stąd planowanie potomstwa nie stanowi przeciwwskazania do kontynuowania terapii wspomnianymi lekami.
