Leczenie łączone za pomocą glikokortykosteroidów (GKS), do których zalicza się m.in. hydrokortyzon, i promieni UV u pacjentów z atopowym zapaleniem skóry (AZS) uważa się za skuteczne.

W publikacjach naukowych można znaleźć informacje mówiące o tym, że miejscowe stosowanie GKS oraz stosowanie emolientów zmniejszają ryzyko przejściowego zaostrzenia objawów AZS, obserwowanego niekiedy na początku fototerapii.

Jednak z racji tego, iż u dzieci w wieku poniżej 12 lat bez porozumienia z lekarzem nie należy stosować leków sterydowych, przed zastosowaniem leku u 9-letniego dziecka należy zasięgnąć porady lekarza.
