Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium called mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease is transmitted mainly by drip and most often affects the lungs, but it can also include the nervous, bone, genitourinary and skin systems. The most effective way to protect against getting sick is vaccination, which further reduces the risk of dangerous complications.
