Hello, I received contraceptive pills that I have been using for a month. Before starting their use, the gynecologist did not order me any blood tests, etc. Therefore, I have a question whether such tests are necessary if the gynecologist finds, for example, that I am not at risk. I will add that I am 19 years old. Best regards

Before starting the use of hormonal contraception, it is always advisable to perform laboratory tests that will allow you to choose the right preparation based on your health condition and possible accompanying diseases. Thanks to them, the risk of exacerbation of existing diseases or the appearance of new disease symptoms is reduced. If you have doubts about the correct selection of contraceptive pills, I encourage you to consult your doctor again. You can also perform basic tests on your own and present them at the next visit to the gynecologist. These include: blood count and smear, blood clotting parameters, glucose test, lipidogram and liver tests and hormone levels (FSH, LH, TSH, estradiol, prolactin, progesterone, testosterone).
