Good morning I took Levalox 500, and only after taking it I read in the leaflet that it should be taken with caution in case of damage to the central nervous system and tendon problems. I have cerebral palsy and have Achilles tendon contracture. Can I take this medicine or ask my doctor to change it? Dosage 2x1 tablet. Thank you for your reply.

If the doctor who prescribed the medicine was informed about your state of health or had access to a complete medical history, then I think you should continue the treatment, because he certainly took this into account and chose the best form of treatment. The use of Levalox for cerebral palsy is not contraindicated. The use of Levalox is contraindicated in tendonitis, but caused by previous use of other fluoroquinolones, as it threatens to exacerbate/relapse inflammation. For another cause of tendon problems, treatment with Levalox is not completely contraindicated. However, it should be borne in mind that tendonitis and tendon rupture (especially the Achilles tendon) can occur within 48 hours after starting treatment with Levalox or other fluoroquinolone, and their occurrence has been reported up to several months after the end of treatment. The risk is higher in older patients, patients with renal impairment, men after parenchymal transplantation, patients receiving daily doses of 1000 mg levofloxacin (the active ingredient in Levalox) and those treated concomitantly with corticosteroids. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/89718/levalox-tabletki-powlekane/ulotka
