Jednakże alkohol wywiera niekorzystny wpływ na serce i układ krążenia. Spożywanie alkoholu przy występowaniu chorób układu krążenia powinno zostać ograniczone do minimum. Alkohol może spowodować m.in. zaburzenia rytmu serca, rozwój nadciśnienia czy niewydolności serca.
