Lekiem z wyboru (stosowanym jako pierwsze) w niedoczynności kory nadnerczy jest hydrokortyzon, który odpowiada naturalnemu kortyzolowi. W wybranych przypadkach lekarz może wybrać inny glikokortykosteroid prednizon lub prednizolon. Leki takie jak metyloprednizolon (syntetyczny analog) mogą być stosowane jedynie w razie konieczności, jednocześnie z mineralokortykosteroidami.

W przypadku niedoczynności kory nadnerczy kompetencje w doborze leku ma lekarz zapoznany z dokumentacją medyczną danego pacjenta. Zatem odpowiedź co do zasadności zmiany leku może Pani uzyskać po konsultacji z endokrynologiem.
