Nie należy przerywać stosowania leku Estazolam, chyba że jest to zgodne z zaleceniem lekarza. Po nagłym przerwaniu przyjmowania leku możliwe jest ponowne wystąpienie objawów choroby lub pogorszenia samopoczucia, np. wystąpienie bezsenności z odbicia.

Jeśli lekarz zadecyduje o zaprzestaniu stosowania leku, dawka leku powinna być stopniowo zmniejszana przez kilka dni.

Objawy związane z odstawieniem leku mogą trwać zazwyczaj maksymalnie do 3 tygodni, najczęściej ustępują szybciej.
