Can Cipronex antibiotic be used during pregnancy?

Hello, I am currently 17 weeks pregnant. My cervical culture showed bacteria, unfortunately my gynecologist can't prescribe me an antibiotic with ampicillin because I was allergic to osamox. I was given cipronex 500 by my doctor, can this antibiotic be used during pregnancy? Best regards

As a pharmacist, I can only provide general information. Cipronex (ciprofloxacin) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.

Through Gdziepolek it is possible to book a drug in a selected pharmacy:

If you are pregnant, it is always important to consult your doctor before starting any drug therapy, including the use of antibiotics.

Cipronex is not recommended for use in pregnant women because there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, especially in the first trimester. In the later stages of pregnancy, your doctor may decide to use Cipronex if the potential benefits justify the use of the drug in pregnant women despite the potential risks.

If you are pregnant, it is always best to follow the instructions of your doctor. If you have concerns or questions about your prescribed medication, you should consult your doctor for more precise information tailored to your current situation.

If you do not have the possibility of an in-person visit, I encourage you to take advantage of the teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
