Good morning. I have been taking methypred for a long time due to subacute thyroiditis. Ailment very painful. Now I'm going through Boston. Do I have to stop the steroid for the duration of the infection? If I do that, I can't stand the pain.

Methypred is not discontinued overnight with prolonged use. When discontinuing chronic glucocorticoid therapy, the dose should be gradually reduced over several weeks to avoid symptoms resulting from rapid discontinuation of the drug. Such symptoms include headaches, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, anorexia, weakness, emotional disturbances and fever, among others. You can read more about it here (leaflet tab): https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/48768/metypred-tabletki/apteki If you want to stop taking the medicine, contact your doctor.
