Is the saved dose of Amotaxi for a child weighing 10 kg not too high?
Hello, Doctor przepical corce (10kg) Amotaxi 500mg / 5m. - On the prescription it says 2x4.5ml every 12h, is it not too much? 9ml of antibiotic every 12 hours seems to be a huge dose, and exceeds the limit given in the leaflet.

The drug Amotaxi is used at a dose of 40 - 90 mg / kg of the child's body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses. The maximum recommended dose of the drug is 100 mg / kg body weight. For a child weighing 10 kg, the usual dose is between 400 and 900 mg in 2 or 3 divided doses. This means that for dosing 2 times a day, 200 - 450 mg (which corresponds to 2.0 - 4.5 ml of suspension) is recommended at a time.
