Why should I use Glucophage after or during a meal?

I take glucophage 500 2x for years half an hour before a meal (I think that's what the doctor recommended to me). everywhere I read that you should take during or after a meal. what does it matter?

Glucophage może powodować wystąpienie działań niepożądanych ze strony układu pokarmowego, jak np. bóle brzucha, biegunki. W przypadku zastosowania preparatu po lub w trakcie posiłku zmniejsza się ryzyko wystąpienia działań niepożądanych:
